The minimalist "boring by design" list system mimics the simplicity of old phones like the Nokia 3310. By removing the visual stimulation of app grids, it naturally discourages constant screen checking and helps teach your child a healthier relationship with their first smartphone.
For parents who prefer a more traditional approach, or one that looks like any other smartphone, we also offer a standard grid layout.
Real Parental Control
Beyond aesthetics, SafetyMode gives you genuine control over what your child can access and when. You can remove apps from the homescreen entirely, set schedules for specific apps, and enforce time limits - whether that's one hour of music daily or keeping certain apps accessible only outside school hours.
Here's the clever part: apps that aren't on the homescreen lose internet access and won't send distracting notifications. This means fewer temptations and fewer reasons to pick up the phone.
If you want you can remove access to every app apart from a shortcut to “Call Mum” for example.
Smart Content Filtering
SafetyMode uses machine learning to scan the screen and detect nudity or toxic and bullying text. It works across any app - WhatsApp, Snapchat, Roblox. When something flagged is detected, you decide what happens: block the screen, save the image for later review, receive an email notification, or do all three.
We're transparent about our limitations: our nudity detection achieves over 90% accuracy against industry benchmarks, so it's not perfect. This is why we encourage you to only grant app access when you feel genuinely ready. When you do, SafetyMode provides the extra guardrails to keep your child safer.
Privacy First, Always
We take privacy seriously. All AI and machine learning processing happens exclusively on-device - no images or scanned text ever leave your child's phone. This means the safety features also work in airplane mode, and crucially, their data can never be accessed by anyone, including us.
Layered Protection
Beyond content filtering, SafetyMode includes several additional protections. A built-in VPN blocks adult websites and other sites you select, preventing access through alternative browsers or public WiFi. Calls from unsaved numbers can be automatically rejected, cutting down on spam and unwanted contact.
We also restrict access to settings, preventing the common workarounds kids might attempt - like changing the timezone or using hidden in-app browsers to bypass restrictions.
